Alex Murphy was born on 22nd April 1939.

He signed for the St Helens Rugby League Club just after Midnight, on his 16th Birthday,  on 22nd April 1955. His signing on fee was £80.
In a 'Rugby Leaguer' poll he was voted 'Player of the Millennium'. 

In this nearly 3 hours interview Alex tells us what life was like as a young man growing up in Thatto Heath, about his childhood and playing schools Rugby League. Who influenced him early in his career? Hear him talk about the great Jim Sullivan, his first coach at St. Helens and much, much more.
