    Andy Gregory was born in Lower Ince, Wigan, U.K. in 1961.
    He played Junior Rugby League for the Wigan St. Patricks amateur R.L. Club.
    His Uncle was on the Board at Wigan Professional Club and Andy was expected
    to sign for his home town team. Instead he played once with Salford (as one of the most Famous A.N. Others ever), who’s coach at the time the Legendary Alex Murphy (see his interview details on this site) wanted to sign Andy in professional forms. The 17 year old Andy was signed to the Widnes Club by the coach Doug Laughton (see interview on this site) for a fee of £2,000.
    In Andy’s first season in the senior team (1980/81 Season) he won his 1st Challenge Cup Final winners medal at the age of 21. Also in 1980/81 he made his debut for Great Britain against France on 6th December 1981.

    The Scrum Half  went on to play in 6 Ashes series against Australia which is a record that may never be broken.

    Transferred to Warrington in the 1984/5 season  - Andy played for Warrington with great success and then in the 1986/7 season moved to his home town club Wigan, for a fee of £130,000. Wigan then went on to dominate the sport in the U.K. from the mid 80s to the mid 90s. 
    He was the first player win 2 Lance Todd man of the match awards, in Challenge Cup Finals, whilst playing for Wigan (1988 & 1990). 
    He was the first player to win 5 Challenge Cup Final winners medals. (for the Widnes
    and the Wigan Clubs).
